In this presentation, attendees will learn about the communication behind student behavior, identify how this impacts the cycle of challenging behavioral interactions, and discuss ways to help students communicate more functionally. In addition, we will present examples and discuss how power struggles are a common response among adults working with students. Attendees will learn about the power struggle cycle. Practical strategies for avoiding and getting out of these struggles will be presented.
